ARESIBO 3rd Plenary Meeting

Gorizia (IT) host the third plenary meeting of the European project ARESIBO - Augmented Reality Enriched Situation awareness for Border security (from 18 to 20 February 2020), funded under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The project involves more than 20 partners from all over Europe (Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Finland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland) and aims at improving the efficiency of border surveillance systems by providing operational teams and the tactical command and control level with accurate and comprehensive information. The top priorities of ARESIBO are scientific excellence and technological innovation. It aims at enhancing the current state-of-the-art through technological breakthroughs in Mobile Augmented Reality and Wearables, Robust and Secure Telecommunications, Swarm Robotics and Planning of Context-Aware Autonomous Missions, and Augmented Intelligence (AI), in order to implement user-friendly tools for border and coast guards. The system will improve the cognitive capabilities and the perception of border guards through intuitive user interfaces, ultimately supporting them to respond fast and effectively when a critical situation takes place. This meeting in Gorizia will validate the first important milestone of the project, namely the validation of the user requirements. That is why the meeting encompasses a workshop with the external advisory board (external experts, end-users and stakeholders) that will participate to the validation with their own view. The project will now enter the specifications and design phase.
